Xeriscaping means designing a garden for drought tolerance.

Reducing water loss:  plant a tree/hedge/screen to shade hottest time in the garden & function as wind  barrier🐝 Mulch! It reduces evaporation, suppresses weeds & breaks down into organic matter.🐝 Water early mornings/late at night.🐝Find a lawn alternative, remember rock heats up.🐝Water new plantings deeply.

Xeriscaping

Xeriscaping does not mean completely eliminating the use of water,  All plants, even the most drought-tolerant needs irrigation and proper planting to become established to compete with dry and stressful conditions.  This is usually the second or third season after planting.  Water new plants deeply and not frequently to established a deep root system.  Frequent and light watering, creates shallow roots that stress the plant in dry conditions.
