Coneflower/ Echinacea

Extremely popular not without reason!  Heat  and drought resistant, easy to grow, blooms for months and make brilliant cut flowers.  Loved by pollinators and some varieties are commonly used in herbal remedies.

Drought resistant, long blooming, fragrant, deer resistant, easy growing! 

Russian Sage (Xeriscaping)

Beautiful, long blooming, drought and deer resistant, fuss free! 

Salvia (loved by Bees and hummingbirds)

”Snow Hill”:  superb white-flowering, tightly packed, flower spikes, fragrant, grows to 1-2 ‘ tall, long blooming season.

”Dark Matter”:  Beautiful  bold, dark purple spikes, long flowering season (repeat bloomer!) .  Grows to 16” tall, deer, rabbit and drought resistant.  Very effective when planted in mass or as a border.

Coreopsis (xeriscaping)

Long flowering season! Keeps on giving!  Loved by bees and butterflies, deer & drought resistant.  Easy to grow.

Delphiniums/Larkspur (Xeriscaping)

Sought after their beautiful blue colour!  (Please see ”Perennials“ for varieties available).

Butterfly Bush (non-invasive varieties)

Loved  by hummingbirds, butterflies and bees!  Arching habit with impressive flowers.  Does best in full sun with well drained soil.  Non-invasive, smaller varieties available in amazing colours! Please see “Deciduous Shrubs” for more information on varieties.

Lilac (repeat blooming or long blooming varieties)

Sought after for their amazing sweet fragrance! Lilac bushes prefer full sun and well drained soil. Attracts honeybees and leafcutters (specialized little bee).  Please see “Deciduous Shrubs” for more information on reblooming varieties this year!

Spirea (Xeriscaping)

Widely appreciated from their many outstanding qualities in the garden,  Easy care and their flowers attract many beneficial pollinators such as bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.  Small songbirds often build their nests amid the multi-stemmed branches and dense foliage. DEER and DROUGHT resistant.
“Magic Carpet”: A neat compact, mounded shrub with vibrant new leaves.  Clusters of pink flowers contrast the bright gold mature foliage.  Russet red in fall, grows to 24” tall and wide. Flat sprays of pink flowers.
“Gold mound:” prized for its bright golden leaves in spring that turn a brilliant yellow in fall.  Grows 3 feet tall and wide, Flat sprays of pink flowers. 

“Miss Manner” Obedient plant (Xeriscaping)

White snapdragon flowers over shorter, deep green glossy foliage. Very tidy and well behaved non-spreader!
Loved by bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.  Deer and drought resistant.   Grows 24 inches tall and wide. Prefers full sun and can handle a variety of different soils.

Thyme Leaf Contoneaster (Xeriscaping)

A very showy dwarf with its little whitte flowers in spring on delicately arching/spreading brances and showy red fruit in fall.  Grows 3 feet high and spread 6 feet.  Perfect for mass planting, rock/alpine gardens.  This is one of the prettiest contoneaster varieties by far!  It keeps its dark green colour right through the winter, and the very fine texture makes it extremely interesting. A wonderful choice for attracting birds, bees and butterflies to your garden. Full sun and does not tolerate standing water.

Sedum ( xeriscaping)

Sedums have succulent fleshy leaves and produces clusters of flowers from summer to fall.  Well  drained soil and full sun a must. Do not overwater.  Attracts butterflies and bees to the garden. Please see ”Perennials” for varieties and more information.

Poppies

Desired by gardeners in a large range of landscape situations.  Growing poppies is simple and rewarding!  Please see “ Perennials“ for more information. 

Viburnum

Viburnums have 2 major types of flower heads: flat topped clusters (lace cap) or snowball types. Lace cap flowers are usually followed by berries.  Viburnums are one of the most versitile and garden-worthy genus of shrubs. Attractive foliage, flowers, berries and fall colour! Nepeta/Catmint (Xeriscaping)

Robust, thriving in harsh conditions, long flowering season, deer and rabbit resistant, fragrant and adored by bees!

Ninebark (attracting bees, butterflies and birds)

Unique exfoliating bark, dark reddish leaves with attractive white or pink flowers in late spring.  Red fruit in late summer and fall is enjoyed by birds.

Drought and deer resistant, blooms from spring to frost, no fuss, easy care!  

Penstemon/Beardtongue (Xeriscaping)

A high-impact, long blooming perennial, with low water requirements. Comes in a broad palette of colours and sizes. Summer blooming and full sun lovers.

Rudbeckia/Black Eye Suzies (Xeriscaping)

Dependable and easy care! Requires well drained soil and full sun.  Keep plants well watered for their first season to get them established,  once established they are drought resistant.  Deer resistant.  Please see “Perennials” for more information.

Lupins

Tall, graceful and extremely colourful flowers,  Best spot is full sun with well drained soil.  Please see “Perennials” for more information and varieties.

Wallflower (Xeriscaping)

Easy to grow, attractive, fragrant and a brilliant addition to any rock garden, border or container garden.  Full sun with well drained soil is ideal. A wonderful producer of pollen and nectar with a long blooming season. 

Escallonia

Nearly year around flowering on compact evergreen shrubs.  Finely textured and thrives in coastal conditions. Please see “Interesting Evergreen” for varieties and more information. 


Bee gardens

Cletra/Sweetshrub

A delightful, deer resistant native plant that attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds! Attractive glossy dark leaves set off the white or pink, extra large fragrant summer blooms.  Extremely versatile, does well in full sun to full shade! Please see “Deciduous Shrubs” for more information. 

Euphorbia (Xeriscaping)

Evergreen, flowering, drought and deer resistant, and loved by bees.  Bring on the heat! Euphorbias are a delight in the garden, please see “Interesting Evergreen” for our award winning varieties. 

Osmanthus Burkwoodii

A broadleaf evergreen bushy shrub that can be used for hedging, screening, or on banks and slopes. Produces nectar and pollen for bees and many other types of pollinating insects. Grows up to 8 -10 feet in 10 year. Grows wlell in sun to part shade, low maintenance, and are pest free. Extremely fragrant flowers in spring. 

Dwarf Yedda Hawthorn (Xeriscaping)

An easy-care evergreen shrub with a profusion of  fragrant, white, crabapple-like flowers, pretty glossy leaves, and red new growth!  An attractive compact shape, slow growing, reaches around  3 -4‘ tall and 3 feet wide in 10 years ( 7 feet tall in 20 years if left unpruned). Native to Japan. Deer resistant, sun to part shade lover.  Often use as a specimen plant, screen or mass plantings. 

Michelia Doltsopa white & cream

A small flowering evergreen tree or shrub related to the Magnolia! Lush, dark green, egg-shaped leaves with brownish undersides.  Pure white or cream flowers with delicate petals and yellow centred are floriferous from early to late spring and intermittently through the year with a breathtaking fragrance! Makes for an excellent garden specimen or hedge.  Plant where you can enjoy the beautiful flowers and fragrance.  Fast growing. 

snow Dwarf mock orange

Clothed with stunning clusters of fragrant white flowers in late spring. Flowers are sweetly scented and double blooms.  Fast growing and grows  to  3’ x 3’.  Does best in full sun to part shade, is deciduous and very showy when in bloom. Sure to attract bees! 


Pollinator

Alpine Alysium (Xeriscaping)

A wonderful alpine or rock garden perennial! Forms a low, trailing mound or cushion of grey EVERGREEN leaves, bearing masses of FRAGRANT soft-yellow flowers in mid spring. Requires good drainage, drought tolerant, very hardly.  Grows to 4 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Needs full sun for best results. 

Alpine mint (Xeriscaping)

Brilliant evergreen, deep green, small aromatic foilage!  White/pale blue flowers in summer,  Grows 2 feet tall spreading to 6.  Deer and drought resistant, flowers are rich in nectar and loved by bees.

Scarlet Trumpet Honeysuckle vine

Long blooming with tubular flowers, a dense vine for fences, trellises and arbors. Long lasting interest, berries follows blooms.  Full sun & fast growing.  Flowers from early summer to fall, MAGNETS for bees and hummingbirds.  Not fragrant but makes up for itt by colour! Prefer part shade, Grows 12’ tall,  NOT AGGRESSIVE. 

Geum (Xeriscaping)

”Mrs Bradshaw”:  Award wining, clump-forming with masses of semi-double, rich scarlet orange flowers (1.5”)

appearing in late spring to early summer. STRIKING! Full sun, well drained soils, DEER AND RABBIT RESISTANT. 

”Triflorum/Prairie Smoke”:  Whimsy!  Grows on shallow and gravely sites, and has became rather rare! 6-10 “ tall, gradually spreading.  Blooms late spring until late summer. 

Roses

“Oscar Peterson”:  semi-double rose.  starts out a soft yellow, turns to bright white with a golden center.  Blooms from early summer to fall. Excellent disease resistance! Grows 2-4’ tall and wide. 

”Peach Lemonade”: multi-coloured rose is sweet and unique! Continuous blooms start lemon yellow and fade to blush pink. incredibly disease-resistant.  

”Scarlet Meidiland”: Vigorous, producing abundant clusters of 10-15 vivid scarlet red flowers (1.5” in diameter)  Blooms continously from spring to fall! Exceptional disease resistance.

”White Meidiland”: Dwarf and spreading (1-2’ tall, 4-6’ wide). Flowers from spring to fall! Full, double flowers!  Exceptional desease resistance.
