Bearded Irises: thrives in full sun, requires well-drained soil. Not meant for shady, waterlogged areas. Do not plant too deep.
Pruning: deadhead spent flowers by cutting back flower stalks, down to base (this will direct energy to rhizomes for next years growth). Do not cut the green leaves at this stage.
In fall, (when leaves turned yellow);trim back leaves, 6” high to prevent disease and pests.
Does well near pond edges, or bog gardens. Ensure plant does not sit in standing water during winter months.

Siberian Iris: tolerates damp/clay soils,suitable for planting near ponds. Full sun/tolerates light shade. Fertilized in spring. Do not plant too deep, but cover rhizomes. Cut spent flowers immediately and cut back rest of plant late fall (after we had good frost). Varieties: Paprikash, Sunfisher.
Japanese Dinner Plate: Full sun/partial shade, water regularly especially during growing season. prefers rich soils, plant so that the bottom half of rhizone is below ground level.

A compact, clump-forming perennial which typically grows 12-15” tall. Long and profuse bloom from late April until frost! Cut flowers. Attracts bees and butterflies. DEER RESISTANT.

Tough plant! Drought and deer resistant, grows 3-4’ tall with 1’ tall flower spikes. Thrive with little maintenance! Blooms are followed by 2-3” long, black seed pods which remains attractive well into winter, or dried for use in arrangements. Blooms May, June & July. Highly attractive to pollinators especially bumblebees. The plant also serves as a larva host for several species of butterflies.

Uses: ground cover in rock gardens, erosion control on slopes, underplanting in beds (works great under larger shrubs). Great in containers or rock walls, tumble over edges. Deer and drought resistant. Great addition to pollinator gardens. Full sun, drought resistant once established, requires well drained soil.
