Japanese Maples

Mikawa Yatsubusa

Just love this very unique, real dwarf maple.  Noted for its tightly layered foliage and almost contorted look! Very sculptural! Dramatic show of fiery red in fall!  Great for containers. For sure a showpiece!

Orange Dream

Award winning! A spectacular little tree, perfect for small gardens or container.  Leaf out with bright golden leaves that are outlined in orange red!  By summer, leaves darkens to a chartreuse with orange edges.  Fall brings a blaze of flaming yellow and orange colour! Upright, compact growth habit.
Grows approximately 8’-10’ tall x 5’-7’ wide.

Requires late afternoon shade or filtered sun.

Chitosa-Yama

Award winning and wonderful little tree! Striking foliage.  Emerging purple-red in spring, matures to green in summer and turns bright crimson in fall! Weeping habit.  Grows 8-12’ tall and wide. Requires late afternoon shade/filtered sun.

Waterfall

A great weeping laceleaf with and an incredible show of yellow, orange, gold and red in fall.  Highly ornamental. Grows to 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide if left unpruned. (6’ tall in 10 years).  Sun to part shade lover.

Orangeola

MULTI-COLOURED pendulous, one of the MOST CASCADING Japanese maples.  New growth emerges as a brighter red as the older growth below is green.  Orange-red in fall! 4’ tall and 3’ wide in 10 years.  Reaches approximately 8 feet tall and 6’ wide if left unpruned.  Great for containers! Sun to part shade. 

Contorta/Germaine’s Gyration

Rare and unique! Branches weep, twist and contort with age.  Lacy bright green leaves turn into shades of yellow and orange in fall! Grows 8-10 feet tall by 12-15 feet wide In 20 years!   Sun to part shade lover.

An extremely unique and ornamental variety!  With small, deeply cut, curled leaves, forming dense tufts along twisted branches, this small tree is sure to catch your attention! The bright green foliage turn orange, rust-red in late fall. This lends to the name “Lion’s Head”, as it describes a fierce lion‘s fiery mane. The BARK AGES SHADES OF YELLOW, being the brightest in the winter months. Grows 15 feet tall, 10 feet wide

New leaves emerge pink in spring, turning a rich green over a yellow bark.

This is a highly desirable maple with a beautiful globe-shape form.  Grows 15-20’ tall in 20 years. Leafs out red, turning a bright green.  Turning outstanding shades of orange in fall!
Requires morning sun, and afternoon shade, or filtered sun.

The unique, deeply divided leaves has a tinge of red in spring, stay green during summer and turn yellow in fall.

Full sun requires more water, or give it late afternoon filtered sun/shade. 

Purple Ghost

Dark purple beauty with darker veins during summer. Can handle full sun, but for best purple colour contrast, provide late afternoon shade/filtered sun. Amazing shades of fiery red and crimson in fall!  Grows 10’ tall & wide in 15 years but can mature to 20’ . Upright habit with dense branching. 

Oridono Nishiki

A very old and unique Japanese Maple.  Pretty little globe shape tree with pink, cream, and burgundy leaves!
A combination of yellow, gold, orange and red with the variegated parts orange and the green parts turning red/maroon in fall! Grows approximately 10-12’ tall & wide in 15 years.  Could eventually mature to 15-18‘ over several decades. 

Needs afternoon shade/filtered sun.

Shirasawanum Autumn Moon (Full Moon maple)

Grows best in dappled afternoon shade, morning sun or open shade.
A stunning small maple!  Typically grows to be 6-8. tall in 10 years with a rounded canopy.  
Can mature to 15-20’ tall, slow growing.

Leaf out in spring with a pink-orange colour.  Matures to a golden/chartreuse yellow in summer, with a spectacular burnt orange and red fall colour.
