“Katsura”:  Selected for its continuous new growth through spring and summer, large glossy leaves are wine red before turning green. PINK  flowers.  Prefers afternoon shade, morning sun, broken sun all day or filtered afternoon sun.  4-5 feet tall in 10 years. Orgin: Japan.

An evergreen, pyramidal, aromatic tree or shrub in the Laurel family.  Slow growing and easy to keep to container/patio size. Full sun to part shade lover. Aromatic leaves are used in cooking such as soups, curries and pastas. Well drained soil is essential. Grows approximately to 8-12 feet tall and easy to grow in well drained soil. 

One of the oldest trees in the world!  Fossil records indicate this species date back millions of years.  Scientist now believe that much of the fossil-rich Baltic Amber was produced by members of the same family.  This species is the only remaining member if its family and genus.  Also known as Japanese Umbrella tree (Umbrella-like whorls of needles that grows at the end of the branchlets and branches).  It is slow growing (5” per  year for the first 10 years of its life) and typically matures to 25 feet tall. Grows in full sun to part shade, and requires well drained soil.  Once established it’s drought and deer resistant.
